Profile of the Choir

Chœur de chambre Tactus

Tactus is a Montreal-based chamber choir. Founded in 1997 while its founding director François Ouimet was pursuing a Master's degree in conducting at the University of Montreal its members are diverse both in terms of age and experience. What they share is a background in music and a passion for choral singing.

Each season, Tactus presents multiple programs. Enjoying the exploration of various periods and styles, through its concerts, Tactus illustrates the links between musical eras in a way that is both educational and artistic. It is scarcely surprising then that Mr. Ouimet teaches the history of music...

Tactus Chamber Choir is proud to have received a grant from the Canada Council for the Arts for "Bestiare", a project presented for the first time during the summer of 2004. Tactus is a non-profit organization governed by an elected administrative council and holder of a federal charitable organization number, allowing it to issue receipts for tax purposes.

In the Fall of 2011, Simon Fournier takes the helm of the group, while maintaining the same eclectic, dynamic and adventurous outlook.

The Chœur de chambre Tactus is a registered non profit organization (NPO).
